Zotto Mattress Overview
Zotto Sleep started with a successful Kickstarter campaign that allowed them to begin shipping mattresses in late 2015 and early 2016.
Some of the key strengths of the Zotto mattress include
- Higher density foams: all four layers of foam used in the Zotto mattress have solid density, which can’t be said for all of the foam mattresses on the market. Higher density foams are much more likely to hold up well over time.
- Focus on sleeping cool: Zotto has clearly invested a lot of time and thought on the issue of sleeping hot, and the mattress includes several features intended to prevent it. For sleepers looking for the supportiveness of memory foam without major heat retention, this may be an option for serious consideration.
Potential drawbacks for the Zotto mattress include
- Only one firmness option: Zotto offers only one firmness level, and there is no ability to customize or tailor the mattress for an individual customer. For people who prefer a firmer or extremely plush mattress, this may not be the best choice.
- Limited track record: Zotto is new to the mattress industry and has limited evaluation by independent reviewers. As a young company, it is also hard to evaluate their reputation for customer service.
Zotto Mattress Pricing

About the Zotto Mattress
Zotto Mattress Specifications
The Zotto mattress is built with four layers. The top layer is 2” of gel-infused memory foam with a density of 4.5 PCF. The second layer is 2” of memory foam with a density of 4 PCF. The third layer is 2” of 3.1 PCF transition foam, and the bottom layer is 4” of 1.8 PCF support foam.
Where It’s Made
The Zotto mattress is manufactured in the USA.
Sleep Trial / Refunds
The Zotto mattress comes with a 100 night sleep trial. The company requests that you try the bed out for 30 nights, but if you aren’t satisfied, you have up to 100 nights to get a full refund. If you decide to return the mattress, Zotto arranges to have it picked up to be donated. Once you provide the company with the donation receipt, they refund your purchase.
If you purchase a Zotto mattress through Amazon, your sleep trial may be shorter than 100 nights. Typically, any returns on products purchased through Amazon must be made within 30 days unless otherwise stipulated. If purchasing through Amazon, check with Amazon or Zotto directly to confirm sleep trial information.
Delivery of the Zotto mattress is free to the continental United States. Shipping is done via FedEx, and the mattress typically arrives 3-6 days after being ordered.
The mattress is compressed inside plastic packaging and arrives inside a box delivered to your doorstep. Once you cut open the packaging, the mattress will decompress and should reach its full size in 2-5 minutes.
Zotto does not offer installation or haul-away services for your old mattress.
The Zotto mattress comes with a 10-year warranty. During this time period, the company will replace or repair your mattress if there are any defects in craftsmanship or materials. The warranty policy itself is very complex and includes a number of exclusions. You can find the full warranty terms at https://zottosleep.com/warranty-2/.
There is limited information from existing customers about their customer service experience with Zotto. The company has an A rating from the Better Business Bureau and seems to offer a similar type of customer service orientation as most of the direct-to-consumer mattress companies.
The Zotto mattress is a relatively straightforward all-foam mattress built with quality materials. The company’s design has tried to garner the same benefits as traditional memory foam but without some of its biggest downsides.
The Zotto mattress includes two comfort layers with high-density memory foams. This helps the mattress provide a solid base of support. It has more of a cradling effect than many competitors, which many sleepers find to be the best way to find a comfortable sleeping position that eliminates pressure points.
As a relative newcomer to the online mattress business, Zotto hasn’t had its mattresses on the market long enough to be able to judge their durability over the long haul. However, with each layer of foam being made with a relatively high density, it can be expected that this mattress will hold up at least as well as most of its competitors.
Zotto offers only one level of firmness, which falls closer to a 5 on the typical firmness scale. For people who prefer a slightly more plush feel without being totally absorbed by their mattress, the Zotto may be a good option. However, it may be too soft for people who are used to a mattress without much sink or cradling.
Because of its strong cradling properties, the Zotto mattress can be expected to have very little motion transfer. This is similar to many traditional memory foam mattresses that excel in the area of motion isolation.
Very little offgassing or smell should be expected from the Zotto mattress. Any smell immediately present after unboxing should go away within a few hours or a few days at most. However, extremely smell-sensitive customers may prefer a mattress made without any large foam layers, which can have more smell than materials like innerspring coils.
Mattresses with as much sink as the Zotto often have a reputation for sleeping hot. However, Zotto has tried to remedy this with a number of design elements including gel-infused memory foam and materials that are intended to prevent heat retention. There are not sufficient verified customer reviews to know how effective these measures have been, but this is certainly a focus of the Zotto team. In general, gel-infused memory foam has some firm adherents even though reviews are mixed about its benefits.
Because it has more sink and contouring than some other all-foam mattresses, the Zotto mattress may pose occasional barriers to sexual activity. Though this is unlikely to be an extremely pronounced problem, customers focused on an ideal mattress for sex may prefer a latex or innerspring mattress.
The table below provides a comparison of some mattresses with similarities to the Zotto mattress in terms of construction and feel.
