Wright spent two years in research and development, collecting sleep data using Jawbone Up™ sleep tracking software, and tried out twenty-six prototypes before releasing their W1.27 model mattress.

Some key strengths of the Wright mattress include:

  • Free white-glove delivery: Wright Bedding will send a two person team to install your new mattress and remove the old one, free of charge.
  • Durability: The PCF measurements for the layers of the Wright Bedding mattress are slightly denser than average, which suggest this mattress will last a long time.

Potential drawbacks of the Wright mattress include:

  • Cost: This mattress is significantly more expensive than it’s competitors in the bed-in-a-box space.
  • Limited track record: even though the company describes extensive testing conducted as part of the design of the Wright mattress, there is still only limited data from its performance in actual bedrooms of actual customers.

Buying Logistics

Where to Buy

Wright Bedding is mainly sold online through their website, but they also have a showroom in downtown New York City.

Sleep Trial / Refunds

Wright Bedding offers a 120 night sleep trial. If you’re not satisfied within 120 nights, they will pick up the mattress for recycling and issue a full refund. There is no cost for return shipping.

Wright Bedding offers two delivery methods, both of which are free.

The primary method includes complimentary “white-glove” delivery. A two-person installation team from Wright Bedding will set up the new bed and remove your old mattress for no charge. Shipping and set up will take between 4-9 days.

For faster shipping, customers can choose to have their mattress delivered by UPS. It will arrive compressed in a 21” x  21” x 40” box 2-7 business days after the order is placed. Customers will need to handle and unpack the box themselves.

Wright mattresses come with a 15 year warranty, which covers any defects in materials or workmanship.  Full warranty terms are not listed on the company’s website, so customers may want to request this information before making a purchase.

Customer Service

Wright Bedding has been in business since 2015, and has an A rating from the Better Business Bureau.  Because they have not been in business for an extended period, we have limited information about their customer service reputation; however, we have not heard reports of any serious customer service issues.

Mattress Performance

The Wright mattress has not been on the market long enough to generate a sizable amount of data about its performance; however, early indications are that it performs well for an all-foam mattress.

With a memory foam top layer supported by additional foam layers, including layers with high-density foams, this mattress can be expected to offer the kind of contouring that helps to maintain spinal alignment.

One of the main ways that we can predict the durability of a foam mattress is by looking at the density of the foam. Foams with higher densities are more likely to stand the test of time and regular use. All of the foams in this mattress are at or above average densities relative to similar mattresses on the market.

The Wright mattress is a medium-firm mattress coming in around 6-7 on the typical firmness scale. It is not offered in any other firmness levels.

Motion Transfer

As with most memory foam mattresses, the Wright mattress does an excellent job of isolating motion, which reduces the disruption to one sleeper by movement of a partner or pet elsewhere on the mattress.

Customers report fast decompression coupled with standard off-gassing smells that most memory foam mattresses have. The smell should dissipate in 24 hours and is not harmful

Sleeping Hot

Wright has designed its mattress with properties that are intended to reduce the amount of heat retained by the mattress. That said, memory foam mattresses, because of their deep contouring, may still cause overheating for some sleepers. This is mostly likely only going to be an issue for people who are already prone to sleeping hot.

Given that the Wright bed is a memory foam mattress and therefore constructed with minimal motion transfer and bounce, customers with an eye towards intimacy may find a latex, innerspring, or hybrid model more accommodating.
