Before launching its own mattresses, Reverie made a name in the bedding industry by producing a well-regarded line of adjustable bases. In the past few years, the company has developed several models of mattresses that use a unique foam spring design.

Some of the key strengths of the Reverie mattress include:

  • Innovative foam spring material: the support core of the Reverie mattresses are built with foam that is molded in the shape of springs. These foam springs have different levels of firmness and then are arranged within the mattress to create a certain feel.
  • Multiple firmness options: most of the Reverie mattresses are reconfigurable by unzipping the mattress cover and adjusting the location of different foam springs. The non-configurable mattresses are still available in two firmness options.
  • Year of sleep support: for one year after you purchase a Reverie mattress, the company will provide ongoing support in the form of a sleep coach and sleep concierge. These resources can provide tips for sleep hygiene and can work with you to reconfigure or rearrange the mattress to optimize comfort.

Potential drawbacks for the Reverie mattress include:

  • Expensive: the price point for the Reverie mattresses is considerably higher than most of the others on the market.
  • No sleep trial and no returns: Reverie is one of the only online mattress companies to offer no sleep trial and no returns of any kind. Given the cost of the mattresses, this is a considerable risk that many customers may be unwilling to take.

Reverie does not publish the density or other specifications for these foam layers. The company lists this as proprietary information, and as such, we are unable to state definitively the density or ILD of these foams. This can make it harder to comparison shop or to truly understand the composition of the mattress.

Where It’s Made

Buying Logistics

Where to Buy

Reverie mattresses are available directly from the company online and through various authorized furniture retailers.

Sleep Trial / Refunds

Reverie does not accept returns or offer refunds for their mattresses. This is extremely rare when it comes to online mattress sales where the norm is to offer a sleep trial for customers to test out the mattress in their own home. For many customers who do not live near a showroom with Reverie mattresses, they may be uncomfortable with buying a mattress of this cost with no ability to test it out.

If customers are unsatisfied with the mattress after it is delivered, the company does offer 365 nights of support. During this time, the company provides access to a Sleep Concierge. This person is familiar with the design of the Reverie mattress and can help walk the customer through different configurations or modifications that can change the firmness or feel. The company also provides access to a Sleep Coach who can help address other questions related to sleep hygiene or routines.

If you purchase a Reverie mattress directly through the company and/or if you purchase a full Sleep System (which includes an adjustable bed frame), the company offers free white glove delivery. This means that the company delivers the mattress and sets it up in the room of your choice. It typically takes 4-5 weeks for white glove delivery to occur after an order has been placed.

The Reverie mattresses come with a 10-year warranty that covers any defects in materials or manufacturing. This warranty does not cover transportation costs related to a warranty return. Full warranty details for different mattress models is available at

Customer Service

Reverie has a long history in making bedding products, though this is predominantly in the form of adjustable beds. In general, the company has a good reputation for customer service in this area. However, it is too early to tell whether this same reputation will be the case when it comes to providing customer support for mattresses, which have a different set of customer issues and challenges. The company has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau.

Mattress Performance

The Reverie mattress has not been on the market long enough to be able to develop a significant amount of customer data to write definitively about its performance. However, early reviews provide some solid indications that this mattress may deliver a good combination of support and comfort for many sleepers.

The Reverie mattress provides support through a unique hybrid mattress design. The DreamCell Foam Springs are configured in a way that intends to provide the most support in the parts of the mattress that usually are underneath the parts of the body with the most significant pressure points (such as the hips and shoulders). On top of this base support layer, the Reverie mattresses use either Talalay latex or a combination of latex and memory foam. Both of these materials have a reputation for providing an excellent amount of support.

Our primary concerns with the supportiveness of the Reverie mattresses relate to the thickness of the comfort layer. None of these mattresses has a comfort layer thicker than 3”. Unfortunately, the company does not disclose the density of the foams used in the comfort layers. If these are lower density foams, there may be more pressure put on the foam springs, especially over time and especially for heavier sleepers (who weigh over 230 pounds). This could threaten the long-term supportiveness of the mattress.

With the short time that the Reverie mattresses have been on the market, we have no data about how they hold up over long periods of regular use. It will be many years before this type of data is available. In addition, without knowing the foam density of the comfort layers, we are very limited in our ability to confidently say that the Reverie mattresses will be as durable or more durable than other foam or latex mattresses on the market.

One feature of the Reverie mattresses is that they can be ordered with different firmness levels for each side of the bed. This can be an excellent feature for couples who have varying preferences for firmness.

Another feature available in five of the Reverie mattresses is that they can be adjusted after delivery in order to alter the firmness level. Typically, the possible firmness levels range from soft (a 4 on the typical firmness scale) to firm (7-8 on the typical firmness scale). The mattresses that can be reconfigured are the Dream Supreme II Natural, Dream Supreme II Hybrid, Dream Supreme I Natural, Dream Supreme I Hybrid, and the Dream Supreme 8X Hybrid.

The Dream Hybrid I and Dream Hybrid II are not reconfigurable. However, these two mattresses are available in two firmness levels — Soft (4) and Firm (7).

Motion Transfer

Compared to mattresses that are built entirely of support foam and traditional memory foam, the Reverie mattresses can be expected to have slightly more motion transfer. Regardless, both latex and memory foam — which are employed in the different comfort layers of the Reverie models — provide sufficient motion isolation for the vast majority of customers.

Because this a foam mattress, you can expect some initial odor after the Reverie mattress is set up in your home. This odor is not harmful, though. It should also dissipate and is normally gone within a week after delivery.

Sleeping Hot

Latex is the material that is used for the DreamCell Foam Springs, and this helps to ensure that there is enough bounce and resilience to prevent sleepers from sinking too deeply in the mattress. This usually is sufficient to prevent excessive heat retention and sleeping hot.

The bounce provided by latex material in the Reverie mattresses should prevent any inhibition of movement on top of the mattress which also prevents inhibition of sexual activity by these foams.
