Nest Bedding offers mattresses with a range of different compositions and styles. The Alexander Signature Series focuses on all-foam mattresses and is their most popular mattress line.
In January 2017, the Nest Bedding company announced a merger with Brooklyn Bedding, which was its primary supplier. You can read more about offerings directly from Brooklyn Bedding in our review of their #BestMattressEver.
Some of the key strengths of the Nest Alexander Signature Series mattress include:
- Multiple firmness options: unlike many other brands, Nest offers three different firmness options for its Alexander Signature Series models. This provides a lot more flexibility for people who have a strong firmness preference.
- Thick quilted cover: all of the Alexander Signature Series mattresses have a quilted cover of at least 1.5” in thickness. This may be a desirable feature for people who want a memory foam mattress but also like a Euro-style pillowtop feel.
Potential drawbacks for the Nest Alexander Signature Series mattress include:
- Higher-end price: though this mattress may still represent good value, it is at a higher price point than many other direct-to-consumer memory foam options. This may put it out of the price range of some shoppers.
- Lack of a true medium-firm option: while it is helpful that there are three firmness options, none fall into the common medium-firm categorization (6-7 on the firmness scale) that appeals to many sleepers. For some customers, the Luxury Firm may be too firm while the Soft and Medium may not be firm enough.

Sleep Trial / Refunds
The Nest Alexander Signature Series mattress comes with a 100 night sleep trial. The company requests that you try the bed out for 30 nights, but if you aren’t satisfied, you have up to 100 nights to get a full refund. If you decide to return the mattress, Nest Bedding will give you a return authorization. If you verify that you have donated the mattress to a local charity, Nest refunds your purchase price.
If you purchase a Nest Alexander Signature Series mattress through Amazon, your sleep trial is still 100 nights; however, any returns must be coordinated with Amazon rather than with Nest directly.
Shipping of the Nest Alexander Signature Series mattress is free within the continental United States. The mattress takes 2-4 days to be made and to leave the factory, and then it can take 1-5 additional business days to be delivered.
Standard delivery of these mattresses does not include any installation. The mattress is compressed into plastic packaging and then shipped inside a box that arrives at your door. When the mattress is removed from this packaging, it expands. While you can sleep on it soon after unboxing, it may take up to 48 hours for the mattress to reach its full size.
Same-day delivery may be available for customers in the San Francisco Bay or Los Angeles areas. In addition, the company offers white glove delivery with rates that vary based on location. You can contact Nest Bedding directly for a price quote on white glove service.
The Nest Alexander Signature Series mattress comes with a 20-year warranty. During this time, the company will replace or repair your mattress if there are any defects in craftsmanship. You can find the full warranty terms at https://www.nestbedding.com/pages/nest-warranty.
Nest Bedding recently merged with Brooklyn Bedding, which started as a mattress company in 1995 and moved to the online model in 2009. Both Nest Bedding and Brooklyn Bedding have solid reputations for customer service, and Brooklyn Bedding has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau.
The Nest Alexander Signature Series line of mattresses has developed a solid reputation for comfort and support, and the availability of three firmness options helps to make this brand appealing to a wide range of sleepers.
The Nest Alexander Signature Series mattresses all have their primary comfort layer as gel-infused memory foam. Depending on the firmness choice, additional memory foam may be layered into the mattress to add more support. Most sleepers find memory foam to provide solid support through its ability to respond to weight and relieve pressure points. For customers who like a supportive mattress with a good amount of hug, the Soft and Medium firmness options could be an excellent choice.
Although these mattresses have not been on the market long enough to have firm data about their durability, the foams in the comfort layers of the Alexander Signature Series mattresses have a density of 4 PCF, which should provide for a durable product.
Nest offers three different firmness options for its Alexander Signature Series line of mattresses. Each of these options falls at a different place on the typical firmness scale. Which option would be best for you depends on your comfort preferences and sleeping position.
The Soft mattress is the most plush and least firm, falling around a 3-4 on the typical 1-10 firmness scale (with 10 being the most firm). The Medium Plush is around a 5-6, and the Luxury Firm is about an 8.
One thing to keep in mind is that each of these mattresses has a quilted cover of at least 1.5”. This is distinct from many other foam mattresses that have a very thin quilted cover, and in the Alexander Signature Series, it can make the mattress feel more plush, similar to a pillowtop on an innerspring mattress.
In general, the Nest Alexander Signature Series mattresses should resist extreme motion transfer because of their use a memory foam comfort layer. Memory foam typically helps to isolate motion and prevent disturbing someone else in bed. That said, the quilted cover may transfer more motion depending on the size and sleeping position of any specific person and depending on the firmness option selected. People who are extremely motion sensitive may want to consider a more traditional memory foam mattress.
As with almost all new compressed mattresses, you can expect a slight new mattress smell with the Nest Alexander Signature Series. Once the mattress is unboxed, though, any smell should go away within a few hours or a few days. Extremely smell-sensitive customers may prefer a mattress made without any large foam layers.
Mattresses with more sink or contouring are more prone to sleep hot, and for this reason, both the Soft and Medium versions of this mattress may have greater heat retention than some competitors. To alleviate this, the Alexander Signature Series mattresses have gel-infused memory foam as their top comfort layer. While reviews are mixed about how well this reduces sleeping hot, many customers find it to be helpful.
The more plush versions of this mattress may make it more difficult to move in bed, which can affect sexual activity. This is most likely to be an issue with the Soft mattress but may be an issue for some customers on the Medium firmness option as well.
