Overview of the Nectar Mattress
The Nectar mattress is one of many to hit the market in the last few years offering a combination of different types of foams and featuring memory foam comfort layers.
Some of the key strengths of the Nectar mattress include:
- Many high-density foams: the top two comfort layers and the bottom support layer for the Nectar mattress are all composed of foams that meet or exceeds our preferred standard for foam density.
- Long sleep trial: the company offers a 365 night sleep trial — longer than most competitors — which offers significant time to find out if this is the right mattress for you.
Potential drawbacks for the Nectar mattress include:
- Unclear mattress specifications: while the company gives specifications for three of their four foam layers, they do not provide details for the one remaining layer. This is a concern because one weak layer can affect the performance of the mattress as a whole.
- Limited track record: the Nectar mattress has not been on the market long enough to truly evaluate its performance, durability, or long-term customer service.

About the Nectar Mattress
Nectar Mattress Specifications
The Nectar Mattress is composed of four internal foam layers covered by a Tencel cover. The top layer is 1” of quilted, 4 PCF gel-infused memory foam. The second layer is 3” of 3.5 PCF gel-infused memory foam. The third layer is more memory foam but with an unspecified density. The fourth layer is support foam with density of 2.2 PCF.
While the company offers specifications for some of its foams, it does not have the information available for all of the foam layers. In general, we prefer mattresses that have all of their specifications available publicly.
Where It’s Made
Nectar’s mattresses are manufactured in the USA and China.
Where to Buy
The Nectar Mattress is available online through the company’s website.
Sleep Trial / Refunds
Nectar offers a 365 day sleep trial. During this period, if you are unsatisfied with the mattress, they will pick it up at no cost and will refund your purchase.
Shipping is free for customers in the contiguous U.S. The mattress typically arrives within 1-5 days after it is ordered.
The mattress comes compressed within plastic packaging that is placed inside a box and delivered to your door. When you remove the mattress from the packaging, it decompresses until it reaches its full size.
Standard delivery does not include any installation or haul away services, but Nectar does offer white glove delivery and haul-away for an additional charge. This usually occurs 1-2 days after the box arrives in the mail. You can check with the company for the cost of this service in your area.
Nectar offers a lifetime warranty for their mattress, and this far outpaces the industry standard. The warranty covers any defects in workmanship or materials. During the first five years, the company will replace the mattress at no charge. After five years, the company will repair or replace the mattress. The company also offers a “Choice Option” after year five. Under this option, you keep your original mattress and can receive a new one at 50% of the cost of your original purchase. Full warranty details are available at https://www.nectarsleep.com/warranty.
Nectar is still very new to the mattress industry, and as a result, it is hard to gauge their overall customer service performance. While the long sleep trial and lifetime warranty are both customer-centric programs, we do not have enough information to know how well the company handles customer issues. Nectar does not have a rating from the Better Business Bureau.
The Nectar Mattress uses several memory foam layers to create a responsive sleeping surface designed to work well for most sleepers.
The top layers of the Nectar mattress are made with memory foam, which has a solid track record of providing consistent support. Memory foam accomplishes this by responding proportionally to where pressure is applied. As a result, each part of the body can be properly accommodated to help promote spinal alignment.
This mattress has not been on the market long enough to have detailed data about its durability. Durability of foam layers is strongly affected by the density of the foams used. Nectar lists the density for three of the four foam layers in the mattress. Each of these layers uses what we would consider to be an average or above average density, which should help to promote durability. Unfortunately, though, the company does not provide specifications for one of the foam layers, which could affect the overall durability of the mattress.
The Nectar mattress is offered in only one firmness level. This is generally considered to be a medium firm mattress with it falling between 6-7 on the typical firmness scale. This type of firmness is comfortable for the majority of sleepers, but people who prefer a more plush or extra firm feel may find that this does not meet their comfort preference.
Motion isolation is a strength of memory foam, and this type of mattress is typically an excellent choice for people who share a mattress and want to limit disruptions from the other person’s movement.
Like most foam mattresses, the Nectar mattress can be expected to have some initial new mattress smell right after unboxing. This is not harmful, and any smell should go away within a few hours or at most a few days. If you are extremely smell sensitive, you may want to consider a mattress that does not have significant foam layers.
Some people find that memory foam comfort layers cause them to sleep hot because of the foam’s contouring effect, which can reduce airflow around the body and cause heat retention in the mattress. People who are very temperature sensitive may find this to be an issue with any memory foam mattress, including the Nectar mattress.
The Nectar mattress does use gel-infused memory foam, which has small gel-filled beads interspersed with the foam. The goal of this is to improve cooling, but reviews are mixed about whether it can achieve that effect.
If people sink too deeply into a memory foam comfort layer, it can disrupt sexual activity by limiting movement on the mattress. However, this tends to be less of an issue with medium-firm memory foam mattresses like the Nectar. But people who want a mattress that is optimal for sex may prefer a mattress type with more spring, such as latex or many innerspring models.
The table below provides a comparison of some mattresses with similarities to the Nectar in terms of construction and feel.
