The Lucid brand of mattresses are manufactured by Linenspa, a retailer of many different bedding products. Lucid produces mattresses made primarily of memory foam and one made of latex. This review focuses on the latex option.
Some of the key strengths of the Lucid latex mattress include:
- Very low price: for people looking for an extremely low-cost latex mattress option, it’s hard to find a price lower than the one offered by Lucid.
- Simple design: unlike many brands that have numerous layers and complex construction, the Lucid latex mattress is simple. If you are feeling overwhelmed by all the different mattress designs on the market, the Lucid line may offer the simplicity that you’re looking for.
Potential drawbacks for the Lucid latex mattress include:
- Unknown foam specifications: Lucid does not provide any detailed information about the composition of their foams. For example, the density (measured in PCF) and firmness (measured in ILD) is not listed. This makes it difficult to evaluate the quality or durability of their products.
- Short return window: Lucid is one of the few direct-to-consumer mattress companies that does not offer a significant sleep trial period. They only permit returns within 30 days.

It is important to be aware that prices and availability for these products are subject to change, especially when sold by third party retailers.
About the Lucid Latex Mattress
Lucid Latex Mattress Specifications
The Lucid latex mattress has a very simple design. The top layer is 3” of natural latex, and the bottom layer is 7” of support foam.
Lucid does not list information the full specifications for this mattress. For example, the company does not disclose the densities of the foams used in the support or comfort layers. They also do not list the type of latex used in the comfort layer. As a result, we have serious concerns about the quality of these foams. The lack of detailed specifications also limits your ability to effectively comparison shop.
Where It’s Made
This mattress is manufactured in China.
Where to Buy
Lucid’s mattresses are sold online through the company’s website and through Linenspa. Availability may vary, but they are also sold through many major retailers like Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot, and others.
Sleep Trial / Refunds
Lucid does not offer an extended sleep trial like those offered by most online mattress sellers. They accept returns within 30 days of purchase. If you decide to return the mattress, in some cases, Lucid or Linenspa may pick up it up. In other cases, you may need to make the mattress available for shipping, but Linenspa covers the costs of return ground shipping.
Please note that these policies apply only to mattresses purchased directly from Lucid. If you purchase from a third party retailer, then your purchase would be subject to that retailer’s terms and conditions regarding returns.
When ordering directly from Lucid, delivery is included in the cost of the mattress. All Lucid mattresses are delivered as a bed in a box. This means that the mattress is rolled, compressed, and sealed in plastic packaging. It is then delivered to your doorstep. After you remove the mattress from the packaging, it decompresses. The company recommends that you let the mattress decompress for 24 hours, and it may take up to 48 hours for it to reach its full size and firmness.
Delivery does not include any installation services or haul-away of your old mattress.
Lucid and Linenspa offer a 25-year warranty for their mattresses. This warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship, and if such a defect is found, the company will replace or repair the mattress or refund your purchase price.
Linenspa has been in business for over 12 years but has a somewhat spotty track record as it relates to customer service. The company has a D+ rating from the Better Business Bureau.
It is important to remember as well that depending on where the mattress is purchased, Lucid and Linenspa may not provide direct customer service. Instead, service needs may be handled through the retailer who sells the mattress. Because of this, customers should purchase this mattress from a retailer that they are familiar with and that has a good reputation for customer service.
While latex can be an excellent type of mattress comfort layer, we have serious concerns about this offering from Lucid. Without knowing the specifications, we have to assume that these are far from the highest quality foams. As a result, while you can expect to find similarities to the performance of other mattresses with a latex comfort layer, sleepers should not expect excellence from this product.
When used as a comfort layer, latex is known for being able to respond to pressure while also maintaining more spring or bounce than memory foam. For many people, this offers an extremely supportive sleeping surface since it can relieve pressure points while reducing the risk of becoming stuck in the mattress.
While there is limited data about the overall durability of the Lucid latex mattress, we would not expect these products to be a long-term solution for most people. Lower-density and lower-quality foams are more prone to sagging or indenting.
Perceptions of firmness can be very dependent on the individual, but the Lucid latex mattress falls between 6-8 on the typical firmness scale.
Because of the increased bounce that can come from a latex mattress, there is typically somewhat more motion transfer than with traditional memory foam. Nevertheless, most people do not find there to be significant motion transfer on mattresses of this type of design.
While it is normal to have some basic latex or new mattress smell associated with this mattress, it is not harmful and should be gone within a few hours or at most a few days.
It is rare for people to sink deeply into latex while sleeping, which helps to prevent sleeping hot. While latex can retain heat, this usually is not a dealbreaker for most shoppers.
Latex is often considered one of the ideal mattress types for sex because of its bounce and resilience. It is unlikely that Lucid’s latex mattress would pose any barriers to sexual activity.
The table below provides a comparison of some mattresses with similarities to the Lucid latex mattress in terms of construction and feel.
