The Layla mattress uses copper-infused memory foam and a dual-firmness design to try to stand out amongst the many direct-to-consumer foam mattresses.
Some of the key strengths of the Layla mattress include:
- Two firmness options: the Layla mattress is designed to allow people to flip the mattress over to obtain a very different feel in terms of firmness. Customers who are unsure of their firmness preference may appreciate this 2-in-1 style.
- Lifetime warranty: Layla offers a full lifetime warranty, which far outpaces the common 10-year warranty standard in the industry.
Potential drawbacks for the Layla mattress include:
- Limited track record: the Layla mattress has not been on the market for very long, so there is only a limited amount of data about the performance of this mattress. Like many online mattress sellers, the company does not have an extensive history in this business.
- Lower density foams: the foam comfort layers in the Layla mattress are both of relatively low density. This creates some risk for problems of indentation or sagging over time.

Sleep Trial / Refunds
Layla offers a 120 night sleep trial. The company requires using the mattress for two weeks before returning it. After that two weeks, you can receive a full refund if you choose to return the mattress within 120 nights. In the event that you decide to return it, the company will arrange for a local charity to pick up the mattress.
Be aware that if you purchase a Layla mattress through Amazon, your sleep trial may be shorter as Amazon typically only offers a 30-day return window. Products purchased through Amazon must be returned through the Amazon return process.
Shipping is free, and Layla ships the mattress within 2-3 business days after an order is placed. Shipments are made by FedEx ground and typically arrive a few business days after shipping, depending on your location.
Before shipping, the mattress is compressed, sealed in plastic packaging, and placed in a box. This box is delivered to your doorstep. Once you remove the mattress from packaging, it will expand to its full size and be sleep-ready instantly.
No installation services or haul-away of your old mattress is offered by Layla.
Layla offers a lifetime warranty and is one of the only companies in the industry to do so. If the mattress has any defective components, the company will repair or replace the mattress. Full warranty details are available at https://www.laylasleep.com/lifetime-warranty/.
The company’s recent entry into the online mattress market makes its customer service reputation difficult to assess, but early indications are that the company has a strong commitment to customer service. The company does not have a rating from the Better Business Bureau.
The Layla mattress is composed of memory foam and support foam, and the overall function and performance can be expected to parallel many of the memory foam mattresses on the market today.
Both sides of the Layla mattress feature a copper-infused memory foam comfort layer. These comfort layers have different densities and thicknesses, which influences the specific level of feel and support from either side. In general, memory foam offers solid support because it compresses based on the amount of pressure applied. This allows for it to relieve specific pressure points. A very soft memory foam, though, may cause significant sinking into the mattress, which can cause spinal misalignment in some sleeping positions.
Our biggest concern about the Layla mattress is about durability. We typically look for memory foam comfort layers to have a density of at least 3.5 PCF. Lower-density foams may not perform as well over time, which can threaten their supportiveness and comfort. Neither of the foam comfort layers in the Layla mattress meet the 3.5 PCF threshold.
The Layla mattress offers two different firmness choices. The soft side falls at about a 5 on the typical firmness scale. The firmer side is around a 7-8 on that same scale.
As with most memory foam mattresses, the level of motion transfer on the Layla mattress should be low. Because of the way that memory foam responds only in specific points where pressure is applied, it is rare for people sleeping on memory foam to have major issues of being disrupted in their sleep.
It is normal for memory foam mattresses to have some initial smell after unboxing. In most cases, this is not a serious issue, and the smell goes away within a few hours or a few days. Extremely smell-sensitive customers, though, may wish to purchase a mattress with limited or no memory foam.
The most common cause for sleeping hot on memory foam is the sinking of the body into the mattress. This can reduce breathability and increase heat retention, but newer memory foams have much more effective temperature regulation properties. A more plush mattress (or side of the mattress, in Layla’s case) may be more prone to sleeping hot.
The Layla mattress also includes copper-infused memory foam, which is touted as a means of reducing heat retention. There is limited data to show the benefit of copper-infused foams, but some customers do find benefit from this type of foam.
Like with sleeping hot, memory foam can pose barriers to sexual activity if it causes excessive sinking into the mattress. This sinking can hinder movement and sex. This is not normally a major issue for most people, but latex and innerspring mattress may be a better choice for people looking for the best type of mattress for sex.
