Overview

Keetsa started selling its mattresses in 2007 and offers both memory foam and innerspring mattress models. This review focuses on their innerspring options.

Some of the key strengths of the Keetsa innerspring mattresses include:

  • Pocketed coil design: each of the Keetsa innerspring mattresses is made with a base of pocketed innerspring coils. Pocketed coils have a reputation for providing excellent bounce and more tailored response to pressure.
  • Multiple options available: with 4 mattresses to choose from, sleepers can choose among many combinations of layering, price, and design to determine which may best fit their needs.

Potential drawbacks for the Keetsa innerspring mattresses include:

  • No sleep trial / free returns: Keetsa is one of the few direct-to-consumer mattress companies that does not offer no-risk returns. They don’t allow returns within the first 30 days, and all returns must be made within 90 days and require a 10% processing fee.
  • Unknown foam specifications: while the company offers general information about their foam density, it does not meet the level of specificity offered by most competitors. This reduces our ability to effectively compare and evaluate their mattresses, all of which include several foam layers.

We also have a review for the Keetsa memory foam mattresses if you’d like to learn more about their other offerings.

About the Keetsa Innerspring Mattresses

Keetsa Mattress Specifications

Keetsa manufacturers 4 different models of innerspring mattresses. Each has a different composition and set of specifications, as described in the table below.

Keetsa does not list detailed information about the full specifications of these mattresses. For example, the company does not disclose the densities of the foams used in the support or comfort layers. They state that the foams they use are “around 3 pound per cubic foot density,” but this is imprecise and may not represent the density of all the different foams used in their mattress. This makes it difficult to gauge the durability of the mattress, and it also makes it hard to comparison shop.

Buying Logistics

Where to Buy

Keetsa mattresses are sold online through the company’s website, at 4 showrooms nationally, and through a number of other authorized online and brick-and-mortar retailers.

Sleep Trial / Refunds

Keetsa does not offer a sleep trial. If you find that the mattress is not to your liking, the company will work with you to offer modifications to the comfort layer.

The company requires that you use the mattress for 30 nights before initiating any returns, and you have up until 90 days to return the product if it is not to your liking. If you return the mattress, you will be charged a 10% return processing fee.

Please note that these policies apply only to mattresses purchased directly from Keetsa. If you purchase from a third party retailer, then your purchase would be subject to that retailer’s terms and conditions regarding returns.

Delivery

Delivery is free to the contiguous U.S. states, and your mattress typically arrives 8-12 business days after an order is placed.

Your mattress will be compressed and placed in plastic packaging and then delivered to your doorstep in a box. Once the mattress is removed from that sealed bag, it will decompress and increase in size. It should be sleep-ready almost immediately, but it will take 1-3 days before it reaches its full size and firmness.

Delivery does not include any installation services or haul-away of your old mattress.

Warranty

The Keetsa mattresses comes with a 12-year warranty and covers defects in material and workmanship. During this warranty period, Keetsa will repair or replace a mattress that is determined to be defective. You can find full warranty details at http://keetsa.com/support/warranty/.

Customer Service

Keetsa has a team of sleep consultants who work directly with customers to try to help with any issues. Overall, the company has a good reputation for customer service, has been in business for over a decade, and has an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau.

It is important to remember, though, that depending on where the mattress is purchased, Keetsa may not provide direct customer service. Instead, service needs may be handled through the retailer who sells the mattress. Because of this, customers should purchase this mattress from a retailer that they are familiar with and that has a good reputation for customer service.

Mattress Performance

Keetsa’s line of innerspring mattresses follow a similar formula in their design. Each includes several layers of foam, predominantly memory foam, on top of a base of pocketed coils.

Support

Both the pocketed coils in the base of the mattress and memory foam can work to provide a strong source of support. Each of these is designed to better respond to where pressure and weight is applied, which can help with spinal posture while sleeping.

Durability

Reports about the long-term durability of the Keetsa innerspring mattresses are limited. Without knowing the density of the foams used in the comfort layer of these mattresses, it is more difficult to address how well they will perform over time. If the foams are around 3 PCF density, then they may be more likely to sag or indent over the long haul.

Firmness

Firmness is very subjective, and for customers who are not satisfied with the firmness level of their mattress, Keetsa may provide other comfort layers to help find the right level of firmness and support.

Each mattress model from Keetsa is only available in one firmness option. The innerspring layer helps generate a baseline firmness for all of these models. The softest, considered a medium, is the Tea Leaf Dream. The Plus, Pillow Plus, and Tea Leaf Classic are all firmer options, rating at or above medium-firm.

Motion Transfer

Memory foam and pocketed coils are both considered to be excellent at motion isolation, so most sleepers should not be bothered by motion transfer with these mattresses.

Offgassing

Keetsa’s products are manufactured with natural elements, which is a big selling point for some customers. But this can also be a drawback as there can be distinct smells from some of these materials, and the company has limited ability to control the level of scent. Though not harmful and likely to dissipate within a few days, smell-sensitive customers may want to be consider other options, especially because Keetsa does not offer full refunds on returns.

Sleeping Hot

While memory foam comfort layers can cause some people to sleep hot, two elements should help keep these mattresses from sleeping hot. First, in general, the comfort layers are not extremely deep, which can help limit the amount that someone will sink into the foam. Second, the firmness of the innerspring layer can help prevent feeling stuck — and overheated — on this mattress.

Intimacy

Given the responsive bounce of the innerspring base, these mattresses should not pose significant obstacles to sex for most people.
