The Addable mattress was launched in early 2016 and is produced by the same people who sell the Spindle latex mattress. The Addable is a straightforward memory foam mattress.

Some of the key strengths of the Addable mattress include:

  • Extremely competitive price point: the Addable mattresses are very affordable and offer a mattress with a similar design to others on the market that cost several hundred dollars more.
  • Simple design and marketing: Addable does not attempt to pull the wool over its customers’ eyes with a complex design or bold marketing claims. This is a straightforward mattress at a competitive price, which may appeal to many people who feel overwhelmed by all of the options on the market.

Potential drawbacks for the Addable mattress include:

  • Undisclosed mattress specifications: Addable does not offer detailed information about the foams that they use, and this includes the density of the various foam layers. We typically cannot recommend mattresses when this information is not shared because it prevents comparison shopping and evaluation of the mattress components.
  • Limited track record: Addable simply has not been on the market long enough to have a big enough sample size of verified reviews. Because of this, we cannot rigorously assess the track record of the performance of this mattress.

About the Addable Mattress

Addable Mattress Specifications

The Addable mattress has a straightforward composition with with 3 layers. The top layer is 2” of gel-infused memory foam. The second layer is 2” of transition foam. The bottom layer is 6” of support foam.

Addable does not disclose the densities of the foams that are included in these layers. Foam density is an important indicator of the quality of the foam and its likely durability. Without knowing these specifications, it is hard to assess the Addable mattress, and it is also difficult for consumers to comparison shop.

Where It’s Made

Buying Logistics

Where To Buy

The Addable mattress is available online through the company’s website.

Sleep Trial / Refunds

Addable offers a 181 day sleep trial and even offers an additional 6 week extension if you feel that it is necessary to properly evaluate the mattress. During this time period, if you decide that you are unsatisfied with the mattress, you simply remove the mattress tags and donate the mattress. Once you send the tags to the company, they refund 100% of your purchase price.

The Addable mattress is shipped at no charge to customers in the contiguous U.S. Typically the mattress arrives within 10-14 business days after an order is placed.

The mattress is shipped as a bed-in-a-box, which means that it is compressed and sealed within plastic packaging. This packaging is placed inside a box for shipping and is delivered to your front door. Once you remove the mattress from the box and packaging, it decompresses and increases in size. You can sleep on the mattress right away, but it may take up to 48 hours to reach its full size and firmness.

The Addable mattress comes with a 10-year warranty. During this warranty period, the company will repair or replace the mattress if there are any defects in materials or manufacturing. You can read full warranty terms online at

Customer Service

There are limited reports about the overall customer service level of Addable; however, Addable is a part of the same company that manufactures the Spindle mattress. This company has a strong reputation for customer service and an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau.

Mattress Performance

While there are limited customer reports and reviews about the performance of the Addable mattress, it has a basic design that reflects a common type of memory foam mattress. The characteristics of the Addable can be expected to mirror those of similar mattresses on the market.

With its memory foam comfort layer, the Addable mattress offers a type of sleep surface that is supportive for most people. This type of foam — also known as viscoelastic foam — is known for its ability to react and compress according to the amount of pressure that is applied. Because of this, the mattress helps to support the body’s main pressure points and improve spinal alignment.

The primary concern for the Addable mattress composition is that it has only 2” of foam in the comfort layer and 1” of transition foam that separate the comfort layer from the support foam. For heavier sleepers or people with significant pressure points, this may offer less support or may increase the risk of putting extensive pressure on the bottom foam layer.

Addable does not disclose the density of the foams that are used in each layer of its mattresses. Foam density tells us a lot about the quality of the components in the mattress, including their likelihood of performing well over the long term. Without this information, we would be wary of the durability of the Addable mattress.

The Addable mattress is only offered in one firmness choice. This falls as a 5-6 on the typical firmness scale. Customers who want a very firm or very plush mattress should likely choose a mattress other than the Addable.

Motion Transfer

Motion isolation is a strength of memory foam since the foam only responds where pressure is applied. As a result, most sleepers can expect only limited motion transfer from the Addable mattress.

Like most memory foam mattresses, you can expect some initial odor after unboxing the Addable mattress. This smell, though, is not harmful and typically is completely gone within 48 hours.

Sleeping Hot

One downside of memory foam is that it can retain heat, and as you sink into the mattress, this effect can be enhanced even further. The mattress is designed with gel-infused memory foam, which some people find to reduce heat retention even if reviews are mixed about its actual impact. Most people do not find this to be a significant problem, but customers who sleep hot or who are worried about overheating may want to select a mattress that does not have a memory foam comfort layer.

People sometimes feel with memory foam that they sink into the mattress. While this can be comfortable in a sleeping position, it can also limit intentional movement, such as movement during sex. Customers who want a mattress option that facilitates sexual activity may prefer a latex mattress or an innerspring model with considerable bounce.
